Trauma Counselling Can Help With
It doesn't matter whether it began in early childhood or much later in life. The work starts wherever the pattern first formed.
Childhood & Early- Life Trauma
What happened, or didn't happen, in your early years. Neglect, instability, or not feeling safe, seen, or soothed.
Patterns That Took Root
People-pleasing, self-sabotage, anxiety, or numbing. Often these started as ways to stay safe, not flaws.
The Effects of Abuse or Assault
The lasting imprint of emotional, physical, or sexual abuse, or a frightening event you've never quite moved past.
Addiction & Numbing
It doesn't matter what the addiction is, shopping, alcohol, scrolling, overworking. What matters is what it started as an answer to.
Trauma Held in the Body
Tension, exhaustion, a racing heart, or being constantly on alert, long after the danger has gone.
Loss & Feeling Numb
A sudden loss or medical scare, or going through the motions, disconnected from yourself and unsure why you can't move on.

Meet Your Counsellor
Rachael Greany
Rachael spent years sensing that something was holding her back without being able to name it. She understood her patterns. Understanding them didn't move them. What finally shifted things was a single session of the work she now does with others.
That's who she works with now: people who are aware enough to know something needs to change, but stuck in something they haven't been able to think their way out of. The early experiences that never felt safe. The events that overwhelmed them at the time. The wounds that quietly shaped how they live now.
Her manner is warm and unhurried, and she is not easily shocked. Clients describe her as down-to-earth, someone who will laugh with you and also sit steadily through the hard parts without flinching or rushing you along.
"Healing is not a straightforward path, it may involve tears and discomfort. But on the other side awaits relief, and the possibility of a life you never knew existed."
- Rach
What is trauma?
Trauma Isn't Only the Big Events
Trauma is any experience that overwhelmed your ability to cope at the time and left a lasting mark on how you feel, react, and relate. It isn't defined by how dramatic the event was, but by what it did to you.
When people hear the word trauma they picture accidents, violence, disaster, abuse. Those are real and they matter. But trauma is often quieter than that. It can be the childhood where your feelings were dismissed. The years of not feeling safe, seen, or soothed. The slow weight of being criticised, controlled, or left to cope on your own.
These smaller, repeated experiences shape you just as deeply. And because they rarely look like "trauma," they often go unspoken for years, showing up later as anxiety, people-pleasing, self-sabotage, or relationships that keep going wrong.
Trauma also isn't only in your head. It's held in the body and the nervous system, which is why you can understand exactly what happened and still not feel any different.

How a Session Goes
Trauma work should never feel rushed or unsafe. Sessions run 90 minutes over secure Zoom, from wherever you feel most comfortable. You stay fully conscious and in control the whole time, and you choose how far you go.
01
We Talk
We start with what's happening for
you now, the patterns, the feelings,
what you're ready to move through.
No preparation needed. There's
nothing to get right.
02
We settle in
A gentle relaxation technique, not
hypnosis, no performance. You stay
fully aware throughout, and you can
stop or open your eyes at any point.
03
We Find the Root
You're guided back toward where the
pattern first took hold. You won't be
asked to relive anything in graphic
detail. Clients often describe a quiet
click of recognition.
04
We release and integrate
We work with what was left
unresolved, the emotion, the
belief, the decision made in that
moment. The work then settles over
the days that follow.
What People Say
How Do I Know If I Have Trauma?
Trauma shows up differently for everyone. If a few of these feel familiar, you're not alone, and things can change.
✓ Feeling on edge, jumpy, or constantly on alert
✓ Anxiety, low mood, or anger that surfaces quickly
✓ Trouble sleeping, or nightmares about the past
✓ Avoiding people, places, or anything that reminds you
✓ Memories or images that intrude when you don't want them
✓ Feeling numb, flat, or disconnected from yourself
✓ Tension, fatigue, or a racing heart with no clear cause
✓ Shame, guilt, or a sense of being "not enough"
This list isn't a diagnostic tool and recognising yourself in it doesn't mean you have a condition. If these are affecting your daily life, a GP or psychologist can assess properly and talk you through your options.
Getting Started
Where Rachael works
Rachael is based in regional Southeast Queensland and works
with clients across Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast, the Gold Coast
and the wider state, as well as further afield, including the US,
New Zealand and Japan. All sessions are held online, so where you are doesn't limit whether you can work together.
Why online, not in a room
This isn't a compromise, it's deliberate. Clients do sessions
from their own couch or bed, somewhere their nervous system
already recognises as safe. And because this work can leave you
tearful afterwards, you're not walking out to a car park and
driving home. You're already where you need to be.
What it costs
Your first 20-minute consultation is free, with no obligation.
Session fees are discussed on that call so you know exactly what
you're deciding about before you book anything.
As a holistic counsellor rather than a registered psychologist,
Rachael's sessions aren't covered by Medicare. The trade-off: no
referral, no waitlist, and no diagnosis required to begin.
What's said stays private
What you share in session stays confidential, within the standard
professional and legal limits, which Rachael explains at the start of your first session so there are no surprises.

Frequently asked questions
Will I have to relive what happened?
No. You won't be asked to describe the worst moments or go into graphic detail, and nothing is forced. The process is guided; you stay fully conscious throughout, and you decide how far you go at every point. Most people describe it as a relief rather than something that reopens old wounds.
What do I need for an online session?
A private spot where you won't be interrupted, a stable internet connection, and a phone, laptop or tablet. Most clients do sessions from home; on the couch or in bed is completely fine, and often better. Give yourself a little time afterwards rather than booking something straight after.
What if nothing comes up?
That happens, particularly in a first session and particularly for people carrying a lot. It isn't a failure and it isn't unusual, it usually means your system needs a little more safety first. For many clients the deeper material surfaces in the second session, once the rapport is there.
How many sessions will I need?
Most people work with Rachael for a short course of sessions rather than months or years. Some come for one specific pattern; others stay a little longer to work through a few. Complex or long-standing trauma generally takes more time. There's no lock-in and no package to commit to, you decide as you go.
What's the difference between trauma and PTSD?
Most people have some response after a distressing event, and for many it eases with time. PTSD is when those effects: flashbacks, nightmares, feeling constantly on alert, are intense and persist well beyond the event. If you think you might have PTSD, a GP or psychologist can assess and support you. Rachael's work can sit alongside that care rather than replace it.
