When Something Inside You Is Stirring

Maybe this spring isn't about changing your life. Maybe it's about finally understanding it.

Spring has arrived. The days are getting longer. The air feels different. The trees are beginning to change. Flowers are appearing. There is that quiet sense that something new is beginning. And perhaps, somewhere inside you, something is stirring too.

You may not be able to explain it. You may have a perfectly good life on paper. A family. A home. Work. Friends. People who love you.

And yet… something doesn't feel right.

You feel stuck. You feel anxious. You overthink everything. You don't feel like being around people. You find yourself saying no when you really want to say yes. You keep putting everyone else first. You keep repeating patterns you promised yourself you would never repeat again.

And underneath it all is that quiet thought:

“There has to be more than this.”

You know there's more. You just can't seem to reach it.

Perhaps you've tried. You've read the books. You've listened to the podcasts. You've tried meditation, positive thinking, journaling, changing your habits and telling yourself that tomorrow will be different. Maybe you've even had counselling or therapy before. And some things may have helped.

But somehow, you keep finding yourself back in the same emotional place. The same anxiety. The same self-doubt. The same relationships. The same people-pleasing. The same fear. The same feeling that you're somehow not quite living the life you know is possible.

And you might have started asking yourself: “What's wrong with me?”

But what if that's the wrong question?

What if you're not broken?

What if there is actually a reason you respond to life the way you do? What if the anxiety you're experiencing isn't simply something you need to “get over”? What if your need to please everyone came from somewhere? What if your fear of rejection came from somewhere? What if your difficulty trusting people came from somewhere?

What if the way you react, withdraw, overthink, shut down or become overwhelmed isn't a sign that you're weak? What if it is something you learned?

Sometimes our minds understand one thing while our bodies respond to something completely different. You can consciously know that you're safe… and still feel anxious. You can know that someone loves you… and still feel afraid they'll leave. You can know you deserve better… and still find yourself accepting less. You can desperately want change… and still feel unable to move.

That's the frustrating part.

You know what you want. But something inside you keeps pulling you back.

Your body may know more than you realise.

Have you ever felt your stomach drop when someone says something? Your chest tighten? Your heart race? Your body tense? Suddenly feel like you need to leave? Become exhausted after being around certain people?

You may tell yourself: “I'm overreacting.” “I'm being ridiculous.” “Nothing even happened.”

But your body doesn't always respond only to what's happening in this moment. Sometimes it responds to what it has learned before.

And this is where deeper healing can begin.

Rather than simply asking: “How do I stop feeling anxious?” we can begin asking: “Why am I feeling anxious in the first place?”

That is a very different question.

Sometimes staying stuck feels safer

This might sound strange, but staying stuck can actually feel safer than changing. Because stuck is familiar. You know how to survive it. You know how to keep everyone happy. You know how to stay quiet. You know how to avoid conflict. You know how to put yourself last. You know how to manage the anxiety.

Change, however, is unknown. And unknown can be frightening. So you stay.

Even though a little voice inside keeps saying: “I don't want to live like this anymore.”

Maybe you've been waiting until you feel brave enough to change. But perhaps you don't need to feel brave first. Perhaps you simply need to become curious.

Curious about why.

What if this spring is your beginning?

We spring clean our homes. We clear out the cupboards. We throw away what we no longer need. We open the windows and let fresh air into the house.

But what about you? What are you still carrying?

Old fear. Old guilt. Old beliefs. Other people's expectations. The need to keep everyone happy. The belief that you're not enough. A version of yourself that you had to become a long time ago. Stories you've been telling yourself for years.

Things you thought you'd dealt with but that still seem to show up in your relationships, your emotions or your everyday life.

What if you could finally understand where some of this comes from?

Not so you can blame someone. Not so you can live in the past. But so you can stop allowing the past to quietly run your present.

You don't need to know what's wrong before you reach out.

This is important. You don't need to know your root cause. You don't need to know exactly where your anxiety started. You don't need to have all the answers. You don't need to know whether Root-Cause Therapy is right for you.

You can simply know this: “Something isn't right, and I want to understand why.” That's enough.

At Dragonfly Blue, Root-Cause Therapy looks deeper than simply talking about what's happening on the surface. It's about exploring what may be underneath the patterns, emotional responses, beliefs and behaviours that keep you feeling stuck.

And you don't have to force yourself to uncover things you're not ready to explore.

The work is about understanding you.

Imagine feeling different

Imagine waking up without that heavy feeling. Imagine having a little more space in your head. Imagine not replaying every conversation. Imagine trusting yourself. Imagine being able to say no without feeling guilty. Imagine saying yes without fear.

Imagine having relationships that feel healthier. Imagine feeling more connected to your body. Imagine laughing again. Really laughing.

Imagine looking at your life and thinking: “This feels like me.”

I can't promise you a perfect life. None of us get one.

But I can tell you that understanding yourself at a deeper level can change the way you experience yourself, your relationships and your life.

And sometimes the biggest change isn't becoming someone new. It's finally coming back to you.

Maybe It's Time

So here's my question for you this September: What are you ready to stop carrying?

And perhaps an even bigger question: What could your life look like if you weren't carrying it anymore?

You don't have to know the answer. You don't have to have a plan. You don't have to wait until you're less anxious, more confident or completely ready. Sometimes ready comes after the decision.

So if something inside you has been stirring… listen to it.

That little voice saying: “There's more for me.”

Maybe it's right.

Let's find out what's holding you back.

If you've been feeling stuck, anxious, disconnected, overwhelmed or simply know that you want something more from your life, I'd love to have a conversation with you.

No pressure. No judgement. Just a conversation about what's happening for you and whether Root-Cause Therapy might be the right next step.

You don't need to know the answer.

You just need to be willing to ask the question: “Why do I feel this way?”

Contact Rach at Dragonfly Blue to arrange a conversation and find out more about Root-Cause Therapy.

Something is stirring.

Maybe this is your time to listen.
